A believer was designed not simply to exist and consume, but to contribute to and make a difference in life. A believer is not to take from, but to add to the world around him. The Bible provides the details for every believer why he should be a servant:
You were created to serve God
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
You were saved to serve God
"Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Hebrews 9:14
You were called to serve God
"For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus". 1 Timothy 1:9
You were commanded to serve God
"Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:26-28
